ROTARY CLUB OF MONTEREY PACIFIC
NAMES ANN APPEL ‘ROTARIAN OF THE YEAR’
MONTEREY,
Calif. July 16, 2007— Rotary Club of
Monterey Pacific bestowed the honored
‘Rotarian of the Year’ award to Ann Appel.
The coveted award is granted to one member
per year and is determined by serving the
community and club in an outstanding and
exceptional way.
Appel was the
charter president of the Rotary Club of
Monterey Pacific and continues to serve on
various committees, including Club and
Community Service. Originally from Portland,
Oregon, Appel has her undergraduate degree
from Fresno State and her masters degree in
Sports Medicine from University of Oregon.
Ann and her husband, Dennis, moved to
Monterey in 2003 and own Appel Insurance
Agency
Ben Beesley,
2006-2007 Club President of Monterey Pacific
Rotary, remarked at the awards ceremony,
“Ann consistently goes above and beyond for
the community and the club.” He continued,
“She is the first person to identify a need
and motivate the club to get behind her to
fulfill it. We are all lucky to have her as
a member of club and citizen of our
community.”
The Rotary
Club of Monterey Pacific also inducted the
2007-2008 board which includes President,
John W. Mims; Secretary, Sandra Whittle;
Treasurer Carolyn Harris and
Sergeant-at-Arms, John Oh. Chairs include
Community Service, Scott McKenzie; Club
Service, Jim Bennett; Foundation, Mary Nina
Hill; Vocational, Terry Low; Youth, Geoff
Cook, and International, co-chaired by Steve
Blum and Frank Giglio.
The Rotary
Club of Monterey Pacific is always looking
