Rotary Club of Monterey Pacific Names John W. Mims 'Rotarian of The Year'
Rotary Club of Monterey Pacific bestowed the honored ‘Rotarian of the Year’
award to John W. Mims. The coveted award is granted to one member per year and
is determined by serving the community and club in an outstanding and
exceptional way.
Mims is a charter member of the Rotary Club of Monterey Pacific and serves on
the board as Treasurer and President-Elect. Originally from Montclair, New
Jersey, Mims is a graduate of Montclair High Scshool, class of 1993, Guilford
College in North Carolina, class of 1997 and Michigan State, class of 1999. He
moved to the Monterey Peninsula in California in 2000, is Loan Consultant at
Blue Adobe Mortgage in Carmel and also volunteers with the Lyceum of Monterey
County and the YMCA.
Sandra Whittle, 2005-2006 Club President of Monterey Pacific Rotary, remarked
at the awards ceremony, “John truly exemplifies Rotary International’s motto
Service Above Self. John Mims genuinely cares for his community which is
apparent in the numerous contributions he has made, including, but certainly not
limited to his assistance in delivering clothes and items of necessity to
Dorothy’s Place, a local homeless shelter, on a monthly basis.”
The Rotary Club of Monterey Pacific recently received “Club of the Year” by
Rotary District 5230 and is always looking for enthusiastic community members
looking to make business contacts and expand their volunteer and community
service, believing in the Rotary International motto Service Above Self. The
Club meets every Thursday at 5:15 p.m. at the Embassy Suites in Seaside.
