WAPIThe reusable WAPI (Water
Pasteurization Indicator) is a simple,
low cost device containing a special soy

Holiday Gift Bags for Less Fortunate
For the 2005 Holiday season, Monterey Pacific pulled together their resources and filled over 50 bags with much need necessities for the less fortunate at
Dorothy's Place in Salinas. Items included
sun block, coffee mugs, toothbrushes, socks, razors and the all important chocolate candy. Members also added a personal touch by taking the time to decorate each of the holiday bags with cards, stamps, markers, glitter and festive ribbon. Not only did the club have a wonderful time pulling together the bags but the recipients were more than grateful to have their own little bag of goodies. This will more than likely be an ongoing December project for Monterey Pacific.
Adopt a Trail
 |
 |
Monterey Pacific Rotary has adopted a piece of the Monterey Recreational Trail. The club cleans up the trail every
second Saturday at 9 a.m. in front of the Monterey Bay Aquarium from Prescott to Hoffman streets, near Cannery Row.
|
Adopting Colton Hall
 |
Our club also has joined forces with the City of Monterey to adopt the historical Colton Hall during the holiday season. December, 2004 was our first exciting experience with this historical treasure. Our club assisted in decorating for the holidays and also volunteered at their annual “Christmas at the Adobes.” We have decided to make this an annual volunteer opportunity for our club.

Dictionary Project
 |
Members of Rotary Club of Monterey Pacific helped raise
money to place brand new
dictionaries into the hands of 3rd
graders. |
Storm Drain Project
 |
Members of Rotary Club of Monterey Pacific helped raise awareness among Carmel Citizens to avoid dumping anything into the storm drains. Members helped clean the concrete near the storm drain then painted onto a small service near the drain "No Dumping, Flows to the Bay." Many people don’t realize that storm drains empty into Monterey Bay untreated. By marking the storm drains, we reduce the illegal dumping of used motor oil, yard clippings and other pollutants into the storm-drain system. It was a wonderful day and the members were happy to raise awareness.

Summer Food Drive
 |
With one in four
residents of Monterey County using
the food bank in a year, this became
a project dear to our hearts. Geoff
Cook and Tamara Mims co-chaired the
2007 food drive and it took on the
name “Hunger Doesn’t Take a Summer
Vacation” They set a goal of 5000
lbs and with the help of Rotarians,
citizens in our local community and
Seaside High
Schoolers, they exceeded their goal
and ended up donating a total of
6448 lbs of food! |
